The new 2020 Toyota Yaris offers a lot more than you would imagine from a low-cost car. The elegant compact is available in sedan and hatchback designs and offers outstanding fuel efficiency that will help you save money over the long term. The suspension has been tuned to improve driver involvement; even though it's not the fastest at the track, it's competent in daily driving. On the other hand, on a less optimistic note, Toyota has fewer driver assistance options than other models. The Yaris hatchback is entirely new for 2020. Like its sedan counterpart, the hatchback is modeled on Mazda 2. It's a version of Mazda 2 that isn't sold in the United States. Additionally, the Yaris comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity as standard features for all models.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

A base L sedan with a manual transmission has enough features to keep the customers content. Suppose you're more interested in the convenience of an automatic transmission. In that case, the L trim can also be bought with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, which costs an additional $1100 over the manual model's price. The L with a manual transmission sits on steel 15-inch wheels and has exterior features like daytime running light and adjustable mirrors for the side. Inside, the cabin is equipped with features like air cooling keys for ignition and entry, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and a reclined rear seat with a 60/40 split are all included as standard. Every model comes with a low-speed forward collision warning.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Front-wheel drive is included on every 2020 Yaris automobile, and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine provides the power. It produces the equivalent of 106 horsepower and 103 pounds of torque. In our test, the Yaris XLE sedan went from zero to 60 mph in 9.6 seconds. This is slower than the Honda Fit we tried; an automatic gearbox made us sprint within 8.2 seconds. The Yaris is, however, more efficient than a Nissan Versa, which went from zero to sixty within 10.4 seconds. When driving in everyday situations, however, it's a bit slow. Yaris does not feel sluggish and offers the most pleasant driving experience. Its suspension tuning is athletic enough to provide smooth handling yet comfortable enough to give you the level of comfort required to make long journeys more enjoyable.

The 2020 Toyota Yaris achieves EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 32/40 mpg highway/city with the auto transmission. It's the same mileage as that achieved with Nissan Versa. Nissan Versa, and it surpasses Kia Rio's mileage by. Kia Rio's mileage by just a tad (33/41 mpg). The Yaris's fuel efficiency drops to 30/39 mpg if you use an automatic gearbox. Subcompact cars today offer excellent fuel efficiency, and the numbers are comparable to the Yaris and are in line with the competition in the segment. When we tested the Yaris XLE, we observed the mileage to be 33 miles per gallon.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The cabin of the Yaris earns style points for its stylish design and high-quality materials. For most drivers, the front seats are pretty comfortable; however, the seats in the rear may be too narrow for taller people. This Toyota isn't as good in terms of cargo capacity. The hatchback has sixteen cubic feet of storage space with the seats in place. It's smaller than rivals like Kia Rio. Kia Rio hatchback (17 cubic feet). If you opt for the Yaris sedan, you'll have 14,4 cubic feet of space for your items within the trunk. The Versa sedan is more spacious than the Yaris in this regard, with an additional 15 cubic feet of space for cargo.


Great feature set

Toyota has fitted the Yaris with an impressive array of available and standard features. The base models include an audio system with six speakers and a 7.0-inch screen with a touchscreen. The Bluetooth telephone and the streaming audio are included, as is an audio-input jack that can use as an auxiliary. Most importantly, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities are available at all trim levels to facilitate seamless smartphone integration. The list of equipment that is available comprises SiriusXM satellite radio as well as two USB ports.

In crash safety tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2020 Yaris received the perfect five out of five-star ratings. The 2020 Yaris isn't yet tested by an independent body like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

However, it was in the year 2019 that the Yaris sedan scored the highest point for Good on all crash-worthiness tests carried out in the IIHS. Interestingly, the Yaris does not come with features for driver assistance like blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, or a lane departure warning system.
